Community Housing on Church Land
An approach encompassing governance, finance and architecture
HAA is a founding member of the not-for-profit Bloom Collective which exists to facilitate community-based housing on church land. The collective has developed a detailed and comprehensive strategy for church communities to finance, erect and govern housing with a social purpose. This is suitable for parishes and larger church entities where it aligns with their mission.
Among the many principles that guide the strategy, is a modular building design that is able to be readily integrated with existing sites and delivers very high environmental performance and relatively low cost. It is expected to be implemented soon in Sydney and Melbourne.
